Regardless of the controversy surrounding global warming and its causes, climate change is real. Most of the focus continues to be on mitigating climate change by reducing GHG emissions. All the mitigation strategies implemented at once will not stop this beast dead in its tracks for a long time to come. There also needs to be greater focus on adaptation to the impacts of climate change, for example, extreme weather events, rising sea levels, etc.

Hi Glen. Hmm a column in TBI would be fun... maybe I should suggest that to the ed sometime. I remember us talking about the FMF thing. Interesting that Teresa would be a bit more diplomatic about they're involvement with the FMF. I just feel their approach is an insult to me as a consumer trying to make ethical choices about what I buy and where I buy it: on the one hand they sponsor things like the Natural & Organic Products Exhibition and on the other they help fund the FMF...

Hey Andreas. Just got my hands on the latest Big Issue, and saw your story in print. You're becoming a regular at TBI, I think they should give you a column ;-). My laptop was stolen recently and with it Gareth Ackerman's response to the letter I also penned re: the FMF. But from what I recall his reply was a bit different to Teresa's. His gist was that there was some scientific evidence of global warming being excerbated by human activity but not caused by it and that the FMF played the role of adding to the debate! I also mentioned the FMF's pro-GM food stance (Montsanto donates to the FMF), but got no response on that point. I hope they reconsider their membership of the FMF, and put more money into the Organic Freedom Project. That would be money well spent.

Great article. Keep up the good work, like the way you sought responses from the corporate scum.
